An irrepressible troublemaker, Guitarist Patrick Murray has always sought music as a way to stir things up. He began his musical studies with orchestral studies when he was eleven years old. Over the next five years he explored every genre that came his way: jazz, blues, heavy metal, ska, rock and pop. During this time he also played guitar and sang in a band, and performed regularly with local orchestras/ensembles.
Patrick went straight from high school to the University of Victoria music program where he began studying classical guitar performance. Here he studied with renowned Victoria guitarist Alexander with Dr. Alexander Dunn, as well as in Vancouver with guitarist mentor Michael Strutt.
Since then, Patrick has found performance to be a constant calling. He performed in masterclasses for several legendary guitarists including Fabio Zanon (Brazil), Michael Partington (USA) and Irina Kulikova (Russia). He also collaborated with Chinese/Canadian Composer Yan Li in the premiere of his musical, LEFT in 2008. Future plans competing for gold at the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competition
During 2016/17, He is currently performing around the lower mainland for private and corporate events such as weddings and other functions. Future plans involve competing for gold at the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competition
Patrick currently uses Jedidiah Wiebe fan fret steel string guitars and Godin Duet Ambiance nylon electric/acoustic guitars, and of course Ferndandez vintage flamenco guitars.
